I’ve been onstage all my life. At age 10 I entertained my family with comedy and magic shows, and even landed an appearance on local TV. In my teens I performed in multiple bands, and later I worked for 15+ years as a stand-up comedian, public speaker, and clean, corporate comic.
My first taste of auctioneering came in my 20s: I worked in a retail store conducting weekly auctions to clear some of the merchandise.
I had a professional career in corporate sales for many years. And while I had an instinctive knack for sales, I also aspired to something more meaningful. I wanted my work to support good causes, and I wanted to partner with people whose hearts were in the right place.
About the time I was looking for more meaning in my career, some friends with kids asked if I would be the auctioneer for their school’s annual benefit event. I agreed to do it, and as it turns out, I was a complete natural! The event was a huge success, and I knew I’d found my calling. In 2013 I quit my corporate sales job and committed myself full-time to benefit auctioneering.
To me it’s been a miracle: all of my past experience in performance, sales, and organization has perfectly primed me for this exact role. I couldn’t be happier! It’s deeply rewarding to offer my unique skills to advocate for organizations like yours that contribute important work in the world.
